Hello my name is Laura! I am an animal and nature lover who has always had pets - cats, dogs, gerbil, budgie, fish, chickens, ponies.
I hold a full driver's license and car.
I am currently studying a BA in Community Youth Work (finished level 7 May 2024) as I want to enhance my practical skills to assist people in life, but I really would like to work with both animals and humans! Where I am living now I only have my fish Joules with me, so I would love to help look after your pets!
Currently volunteering at Dundalk Dog Rescue

My Pet Past:
I really enjoy working with animals. My first dog Guy, a staffie x jack russell, was the most intelligent obedient dog I have ever met. Together we attended fun dog shows - two of which he won Overall Champion - as well as many other rosettes in obedience, child-handler, sausage catching, tail wagging, mixed breed and senior dog.
My first pony, Girl, I attempted to train with a natural-horsemanship approach, mixing principles of Parelli, Monty Roberts and Elsa Sinclair. My pony and I developed a mutual trust, and there was evidential development. However, with education commitments, I rehomed her to a friend who slowly started training her in western-style riding.
I have always enjoyed reading and learning more about animals and their behaviour. I interact with animals on a personal and patient level.
Experience with the Pets of others:
Over 1 year ongoing client - husky X lab (regular walks).
I have walked shitzus, labradors, a rotweiller, a samoyed, jack russells, collies, and a german shepherd.
For the last three months of 2022, I dog-sat a sweet three year old Golden Doodle called Sammy. During that time we got to work on and begin to overcome some of his issues and unwanted behaviours including separation anxiety, pulling on the lead, poor recall and listening skills. He learned many new tricks and skills and I really saw an improvement in his confidence and assertiveness.
I have also helped with the duties of looking after working labradors during the summer and minding the neighbours and family members cats, dogs and fish while they're aware.
I have done work experience with equestrian centres, hungry horse rescue centre (also rescues cats, dogs, goats, pigs) and a dog grooming parlour.

Laura goes above and beyond with our dog Dolly, keeping her happy and entertained when we're out. Knowing Dolly is safe and happy with Laura is a huge relief and has really freed up our schedules. We can't recommend Laura enough.
Our first time leaving the cats with someone and Laura was brilliant. We came back and it was like we never left. Lots of communication when needed and overall we were very impressed from start to finish. Thanks Laura !
