About Glenda

Hello! I'm Glenda and I'm also a pet lover - everyone's first confession here. And I'm happy to be guilty of that.

I grew up like any child, immediately running after pets to hug and kiss at my parents' first minute of distraction. And like any allergic child's parent, they would run after me as soon as they realized where I was and what I was doing. But no allergy in this world would ever keep me away from animals, so I overcame this minor issue and I became a healthy, grown-up animal hugger. With pride.

I guess like any other pet lover out there, the ideal mission is to drop everything and go around the world adopting stray dogs and cats on the way (maybe some donkeys, birds and lizards as well), making sure all of them are safe, healthy, happy and spoiled like they all deserve to be. However, if such a mission is not yet possible, we do what we can by taking the best care of the pets that are with us.

And I mean the best care.

I am currently living in Dublin 24, a beautiful, calm residential area with many dogs. I see them around with their tutors and I always smile. I always want to "go talk to the dog". Some are calm, some are more agitated. But what is important is to get a daily dose of exercise, that's for sure.

So in order to help with that, I am available for daily walks. And if your dog is like my dog and just looooves a good garbage laying around, don't worry, I'm always alert and ready to open their big, greedy mouth to remove whatever "delicacy" they found on the floor.

But in case your dog is not the athletic type (or your cat, or any other pet I'm excited to become friends with), I also do home visits and make sure everyone is fed, healthy, happy and intact (cannot guarantee about your house, though - but you know who your troublemakers are already).

I know we love our pets so much and it breaks our hearts to leave them alone because this modern world just doesn't understand how amazing they are and how spending time with them should first and top priority, but... we need to work in other to pay for their gourmet premium organic grass fed meet dog food. Yes, unfortunately. So if you need to go away for any reason, I can also do house sitting to make sure your pet is comfortable at their own environment. Of course they will be miserably sad missing you, of course, but I'll make sure they try to forget the pain for a moment or two with lots of play time, snacks, cuddles and naps. I'm very respectful of people's homes and privacy, the focus is to help with the pet routine and well-being.

In order to understand how I am with pets and why I will take care of your pet as if they were my own, let me tell you about Foxy. Foxy is the most amazing doggy, we rescued her from the streets when she was a few months old, and now she's 15 years old (or, in dog years.... well, let's just say she's a very respectful old lady by now). Currently, she's back home in Brazil with my family, but we have spent most of our time together.

When Foxy was a few years old, she started showing some abnormal symptoms, one of them was weight loss. This soon became a big concern. Day after day, vet visit after vet visit and no one could discover her problem. She continued loosing weight and having undigested food. Even then, I knew it was important for her to keep her daily walks, as this always made her happy and excited. People would often stop me at the streets, asking what was wrong with her and if she had just been rescued. That often broke my heart.

After a lot of persistence we found out her problem: pancreatic insufficiency. We immediately started treatment, which included painful weekly injections for a few months and intake of pancreatic enzymes twice daily for the rest of her life. And then she got better and she's a happy dog like she has always been. A very energetic friend.

That's why I know how important it is to be disciplined with the pets' routine, particularly if they need special care. Follow instructions regarding medication and diet is a priority to me. And my motivation for being a dog walker/pet sitter is to make sure their tutors know they're with someone very serious about their well-being. And of course, my own selfish motivation of hugging and squeezing and playing and having fun with all those cuties!

As I work from home online (I'm a private English as a Second Language Teacher), I have free time during the week in different hours that I can come and care for your pet. I can also try and accommodate last minute needs, I'm very flexible.

Send me a message and we can discuss more of your and your pets' needs and worries!

Glenda was absolutely brilliant with crystal. Crystal has a lot of behavioral problems and this was a non issue for Glenda. She was polite, communicative and a treasure to have work for us.

We came back to a very happy dog and would definitely book with her again if she'd have us.

Dog Walking

Glenda walked my Newfie x St Bernard for four evenings while my partner and I were away. He was being cared for by our housemate who was too nervous to walk him because of his size. Glenda was so lovely with him and sent photos of him having a good time on their walks, keeping in mind the things I told her about him (overenthusiastic with other humans/dogs and can be a bit bouncy).

I was really glad I found her because otherwise he would have gone mad being cooped up for a week without a walk, and after speaking to her I felt really good about trusting him in her care. She's got a lovely, empathetic attitude towards animals and I would recommend her to other people looking for a dog walker too.
